Third Lent

Scripture: Romans 5:1-11; John 4:5-42

Key verse: “Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God.” (Romans 5:1-2)

Questions to ponder:

  • How would you differentiate the following terms apart: rational reasons, reasons, excuses, irrational excuses?
  • Think of a time when you had to justify or defend your own actions to avoid shame or guilt, or to save your relationships? How did it go? What did you learn from that experience?
  • What is the purpose of God’s justification by faith? How do you explain the first two verses in Romans chapter 5 to little children in less than one hundred words?
